Close on the heels of a similar incident in the Supreme Court, a Delhi high court judge on Monday received an anonymous letter and asked the Delhi police to investigate any nexus between investigators, lawyers and the court on hostile witnesses in the Jessica Lal murder case.

Calling receipt of the anonymous letter as "disturbing", Justice R S Sodhi posted for April 27 the matter before another Bench, which will include him.

"I passed to you (Delhi police) something which I received anonymously. It is very disturbing and I want you to clarify if there is any nexus between investigators and lawyers, between investigators and experts, between investigators and the court. I want that to be pointed out," an upset Justice Sodhi said.

The court expressed displeasure over getting the anonymous letter while hearing the matter pertaining to witnesses who turned hostile in the Jessica Lal murder case.

Last month, Justice A R Lakshmanan broke down in the Supreme Court disclosing that he had received an anonymous letter on the day he was to hear a review petition and refused to hear the case claiming that the contents of the letter were "heinous."

Turning down pleas from senior counsel in the court, Justice Lakshmanan, who was to hear on that day a review petition by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's son Akhilesh Yadav on the CBI probe into complaints of their family, requested the chief justice to post the matter before another bench.
