Three Naxalites belonging to the Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist (Pratighatana Group) were killed in an encounter with the police in Khammam district in Andhra Pradesh on Friday morning.

Khammam District Superintendent of Police R K Meena said that the three were killed during a combing operation in Kothagudem region.

Two weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, were recovered from the spot. The police suspect one of the slain Naxalites to be Madhu, district committee secretary of Pratighatana group.
