A lot of drama has been going on in Adnan Sami' [Images]s life off late. The singer had a messy and very public spat with his wife Sabah, as she pressed charges of domestic violence against him. Later, she took the charges back, and opted for a divorce instead.

Adnan called a press conference to clear the air. Nithya Ramani reports:

Your wife Sabah has withdrawn the case against you. You must be relieved.

She had to withdraw the case because there was no truth to it. It's easy for a lady to try and use the law for her convenience. Since she did not have proof, the police refused to file an FIR and the court threw out the case. Being a lawyer, I know what is acceptable in the court of law. I trust the Indian judicial system.

Sabah claims that you were having affairs with other women. And that you had to be medically treated because of your drinking habits.

That is baseless. My profession is such that I am a part of the glamour world and I have to meet various people. Just because I go for lunches and dinners, it doesn't mean that I am having an affair with every woman I meet.

Also, I was being treated for pancreatic problems, not because of a drinking habit.

What do you think is the reason for such a hue and cry?

She is being vindictive. She didn't want my son, Azaan, to come home to meet me. She didn't want my parents to meet me. She doesn't want me to be close to anyone I love. I am not joking. In her application, she even claims that she needs my dog.

Your first wife Zeba is supporting you.

Yes. We had several issues but she gave her statement that I wouldn't raise my hand on anyone at any given situation. I thank her and love her and respect her for being Azaan's mother. She has done a wonderful job in bringing him up.

How is Azaan reacting to all this?

He is 14 but is as matured as a 40 year old. He is doing great in music and has cut his own album. I am not saying this as a doting father. But he has done things that I hadn't even imagined when I was 14.

I want to keep him out of this.

How are your parents reacting to this?

My father is seriously ill. He supports me a lot. I love my parents. If anybody cannot love and respect them, then I do not accept them as a part of my life. If she accepts me, she has to accept my family too.

Our wedding is considered null and void because as per Muslim law, there is something called Hilala. This means that if two people are remarrying, then the person who first asked for divorce should have been married at least once before getting remarried. Saba said she was married to someone after we divorced and so can marry me. But she hasn't been married. So our marriage is null and void.

On a different note, what are you up to these days?

I am reading scripts, and have three stories in mind I will be acting in. I don't want to play a musician because that's who I am in real life.
