Most viewers who have watched Mira Nair's The Namesake claim that the film is brilliant. Mira, on her part, claims that Jhumpa Lahiri, on whose book the film is based, deserves a chunk of the credit.

Starring Tabu, Irrfan Khan and Kal Penn, The Namesake is a great onscreen version of Jhumpa's book. And we have seen quite a few books translated on screen -- from Devdas, to Paheli, to the recent Black Friday.
