After Jogi became a big blockbuster, producer Ashwini Ramprasad was more than happy to produce another film for director Prem -- and he was also insistent that the director be the hero. Just a few days after the release of Jogi, Prem had already announced the title of his film as Preethi Eke Bhoomi Melidhe.

Ever since the director started developing the script, speculation was rife that Prem would go for a Bombay based heroine. After a couple of trips to Mumbai, Prem finalised two Mumbai girls for his film. Rohini, an NRI with her family in the US, is one of the two girls.

For Rohini, who came to Mumbai to become an actress, this Kannada film opportunity has been thrilling. After studying Psychology and Business in the US, she worked briefly in a bank, but her heart was in acting. "My father is a businessman and my mother is a housewife. They were both a little reluctant when I told them that I would rather become an actress," reveals Rohini. "They agreed reluctantly, but are now happy at my modelling success. Now I have signed my first film."

Her modelling portfolio includes ads for Bombay Dyeing [Get Quote] and Siyaram fabrics, plus a Jagjit Singh music video.

The actress has just finished shooting a song in Egypt and Austria. "It was sub-zero in Austria, while it was 40-degrees plus in Egypt! I was dancing with Prem and some European dancers, in traditional Karnataka costumes. I did not find it difficult because I meticulously followed the instructions of the dance director." Rohini isn't quite sure about her role yet, though. "I do not know the details of my role other than playing a rich man's daughter who falls for the street-smart hero. I'm going to write the Kannada dialogues in English and save it on my laptop," said the actress. 

Her next destination, of course, is Hindi cinema.
