The Finance Ministry on Wednesday denied reports that Finance Minister P Chidambaram has indicated that the coming Budget could be harsh on the people.
A ministry statement said that at a function on Tuesday there was a light-hearted question to which the minister had replied humourously "you may not be kind to me on Feb 29".
"It is disappointing that media should draw any unwarranted inference from the above," the statement said.
