IT major Wipro Ltd [Get Quote] today posted a 11.57 per cent rise in its net profit at Rs 854 crore (Rs 8.54 billion) for the third quarter ended December 31, 2007 as against Rs 765.40 crore (Rs 7.654 billion0 in the corresponding quarter of 2006.
Total income of the group also jumped 33.98 per cent at Rs 5,433.20 crore (Rs 54.332 billion) for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 4,055.20 crore (Rs 40.552 billion) in the same period last year, the software major said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The standalone profit of the firm increased 8.81 per cent at Rs 804.10 crore (Rs 8.01 billion) for Q3FY08 as compared Rs 739 crore (Rs 7.39 billion) in the same quarter previous year.
The company reported 21.32 per cent rise in income at Rs 4,429.60 crore (Rs 44.296 billion) from Rs 3,651.10 crore (Rs 36.511 billion0 during the third quarter ended, 2006.
Shares of Wipro were trading down 1.29 per cent at Rs 454.50 in the early morning trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
