The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to quash the notification of Uttar Pradesh government for land acquisition for a power project in Ghaziabad district.

A three-Judge Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan objected to hear the PIL on this aspect after the counsel for Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group said the PIL is motivated to hit the company, which is planning to come out with its IPO on January 15.

"It is Rs 10,000 crore (Rs 100 billion) power project at Dadri. This petition is aimed to hit me (when we are planning to bring our IPO). I have no problem if my name is deleted," senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Anil Ambani group, contended before the court.

The Bench, after considering Anil Ambani's plea, directed deletion of the name.

It also questioned the motive behind filing the PIL and asked the petitioner to file the detailed of the land owner's who have been affected by the acquisition.

The petition was filed by Sahyog Samiti, claimed to be the committee of land owners.
