Govt seeks parliamentary nod for extra expenditure

Government on Thursday sought parliamentary approval for second batch of supplementary demands for grants of Rs 55,604.83 crore (Rs 556.04 billion) for 2008-09.

Of these, the extra expenditure proposals involve net cash outgo aggregating Rs 42,480.10 crore (Rs 424.8 billion).

The demands were laid in the Rajya Sabha by Minister of State of Parliamentary Affairs V Narayanasamy.
