Retail major Bharti Retail on Monday announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with IBM India for sharing of technology and services.

Under the terms of the partnership, IBM would provide technology and services to Bharti Retail for scaling up its operations, Bharti Retail said.

"In a dynamic and fast evolving retail sector, Bharti Retail's association with IBM will provide a distinct competitive edge that will assist the company's vision and growth plans... The alliance is in line with Bharti Retail's efforts to be a customer-centric and trusted retailer," Bharti Retail President and Chief Operating Officer Vinod Sawhny said.

The partnership would be for a ten-year period, and is a follow-up of an existing four-year relationship between the two companies.

Under the partnership, IBM would share its expertise in areas like project management, infrastructure for data centres, applications, security and network and support for end-user services with Bharti Retail, the  statement added.

"This is a strategic win for IBM... Our goal is to provide Bharti Retail the support it needs to be a customer focused retail enterprise committed to delivering high value to their customers," IBM Vice President (Client Services) Ashish Kumar said.
