Honda Siel plans to 'Jazz' in India
September 05, 2007
Honda Siel Cars India said on Wednesday it was planning to launch two models in India, including its popular hatchback Jazz, to mark the company's foray into small car segment in the country.

"We are still two years away from launching a small car in India, but have zeroed down on Jazz along with another model to mark our foray into the small car segment," HSCI Senior General Manager (Marketing) Jnaneswar Sen said on the sidelines of SIAM Annual Convention in New Delhi.

The company is launching 1.2 litre powered engine car in India to avail of the excise duty benefit.

Sen said if the company introduces Jazz in India, it would come with some modifications from the model being sold in other countries.

The company expects a double digit growth in the current fiscal and hopes to sell 65,000-70,000 units as against 60,000 units last year.

"C segment sales were affected by high interest rates, but we expect to maintain our growth momentum and sale of 65,000-70,000 units in this fiscal, Sen said.

The company sold 3,095 units of its flagship Honda City in August compared to 3,039 units in the same month last year, up two per cent year-on-year basis.

Sen said the company would soon launch an upgraded variant of its popular sedan Honda City.

"We will soon launch the upgraded variant of Honda City, which will come for higher prices than the existing prices," he added. (PTI)
