Tata Consultancy Services [Get Quote] (TCS) on Friday said it is launching a new subsidiary - TCS South Africa to expand its operations there.

"We see South Africa as a key strategic market for TCS and as a gateway to Southern and Central Africa," TCS CEO and managing director S Ramadorai said.

TCS South Africa would have an equity participation from Black Economic Empowerment groups to ensure localisation of services and skills, it said.

The company has a centre in Johannesburg from where it provides support services for financial services products implemented in South Africa.
