Enthused by the success of its India operations, Germany-based business software provider SAP on Wednesday said it would raise its head count to 7,000 in the next two years in the country from 4,790 at present."India is now the third largest country for SAP in terms of employee strength. We plan to increase our India headcount to 7,000 in a couple of years," SAP India subcontinent president and CEO Ranjan Das said.
The company, which added 714 new clients between July-September 2007, has also doubled its revenues in the country. However, he declined to reveal the exact turnover in the country .
The revenues from software and software related services for the third quarter of this fiscal registered a 13 per cent growth at 1.74 billion euros compared to 1.54 billion euros in 2006. The license revenue in India for the said quarter more than doubled against comparable quarter last year.
"This has been an outstanding quarter for SAP in India, and we have more than doubled our revenues across both large enterprise and SME segments," he said.
Some of the SAP's clients in India include Videocon [Get Quote], Tata Motors [Get Quote], ITC Paperboards, Voltas Ltd [Get Quote], Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, Spicejet, Kirby and others.
