Reliance [Get Quote] Retail on Thursday opened its first jewellery store in Bangalore.
The company plans to open 300 jewellery stores in the country in three years. The Bangalore showroom would be followed by stores in Hyderabad and Ludhiana.
Reliance Retail has expressed doubts over meeting its own target of 100 million square feet of retail space by 2010-11."It is a tough challenge at this point of time but we certainly think we would make a good go at it," Reliance Retail president and CEO Bijou Kurien said. "Three years 2008, 2009 and 2010 would be critical in terms of property additions," he said after opening the company's jewellery store in Bangalore.
