Former Karnataka Minister H N Nanje Gowda on Tuesday filed a private complaint against Infosys chief mentor N R Narayana Murthy in a local court for allegedly showing disrespect to the national anthem during President A P J Abdul Kalam's visit to Mysore in April.

The case was filed under section three of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.

In the complaint filed before First Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division) and Chief Judicial Magistrate G S Sangreshi, Gowda termed Murthy's act as ''unpardonable and a heinous crime''.

He said he moved the court following the police's failure to act on a complaint lodged by him. He accused the government and police of shielding the accused.

The Court scheduled the case for recording Gowda's statement and hearing evidences for June 2.
