Vijay Mallya

WRONG!

Vijay Mallya, chairman of the UB Group, launched Kingfisher Airlines in 2005. He is the proud owner of India Empress - his private yacht. Besides a flourishing business he has also built a hospital (Mallya Hospital in Bangalore) and a school (Mallya Aditi International School).

He successfully bid for the Sword of Tipu Sultan and brought it back to India.

Kingfisher Airlines is the first Indian company to purchase an Airbus A-380.

Mallya has won trophies in professional car racing circuits, notably at the Sholavaram track in Chennai during 1970s and 1980s.

He entered politics in 2000 and superseded Subramaniam Swamy as the president of Janata Party.

Vijay Mallya, addresses the annual general meeting of the company in Bangalore. Kingfisher, is the world's third-largest spirits producer and controls 60 per cent of the Indian market.
