Much as it was expected, the hour-long Budget special chat with DD Sharma, vice-president, Anand Rathi Securities, revolved mostly around rising prices and taxation. A veteran market analyst that he is, Sharma handled the questions deftly while giving some valuable insights into the Budget.

Here is the transcript:

D.D.SHARMA says, 
Budget now a days is not a big event as the FM usually moves as per declared policy. But some time surprises comes which are absurd.

D.D.SHARMA answers,  at 2007-03-01 16:01:38Budget this is not having many things on expected lines so every one is disappointed.

D.D.SHARMA answers, Ya, as for as Cement is concerned the FM failed to anticipate that differential excise will lead to increase in cement prices.

D.D.SHARMA answers, may not be strained relations, but they have to work out solution together, rather then FM imposing conditions

D.D.SHARMA answers, MAT impact in real terms is - it preponed the expected tax liability in 2009, to now.
Guru asked, Does dividend tax and esop tax affect the market sentiment.
D.D.SHARMA answers, yes, I think they are surprise elements in budget and affected the sentiments.

D.D.SHARMA answers, Sensex was already in weak mode and budget failed to lift the sentiments.

D.D.SHARMA answers, Due to surprise elements of - Excise hike on Cement, MAT on IT sector and FBT on ESOPs etc

D.D.SHARMA answers, 80 I B not got extension, so it will be over as scheduled. 80 I A benefits are for different activities.

sujit asked, Agriculture has come down to 18% from 25% of total GDP in last decade as 60% depends on agriculture in India. Is india concentarting on Less AGRICULTURE. aS 40 % of indian fresh produce is going waste. no one paying any heed to it. 40% is nearly 20 Billion dollars. Is govt taking any steps in this budget to arrest this problem.
D.D.SHARMA answers, Ya, I think the incentives for cold storage, better road transport and Food processing are maent to address this problem.

china asked, ok tell us, do you feel or let me rephrase that you agree that sensex will touch 20,000 points???? ( mr. junjunwala made this statement in presense of eminent stalwarts like Mr. Damani and other when sensex was just around 6000 to 7000)

D.D.SHARMA answers, Budget bad or good for short term, but long term growth story of India is so strong that country will continue to move forward.

D.D.SHARMA answers, Ya, mostly Midsize companies will be adversly affected by MAT as they are not having onshore offices where tax is paid, for which large companies will get credits.

swamy asked, sir, I would like to know, Service tax basic threshhold limit got increased from 4lk to 8lk. Current v r in 3.5 Lk service v done, so v r not collected the service tax, but next year v crosing the 4lk limit, do v need to collect service tax for next year please suggetst sir swamy
