Inflation eased to 4.28 per cent for the week ended June 9, as compared to 4.8 per cent for the previous week, mainly due to lower prices of food articles and some manufactured items.

The wholesale prices-based inflation stood at a much higher level of 5.29 per cent in the corresponding week a year ago.

Among the food articles, prices of pulses, cereals, wheat, fruits and vegetables and fish-marine witnessed a decline while condiments and spices moved up.
