Rolta India [Get Quote] plans to set up an information technology park in Kolkata at an investment of Rs 250 crore as part of its expansion plan. The park would have facilities for delivery of IT-based geospatial services, engineering design services, software development and ERP implementation services worldwide, a company release said.

The facility is likely to provide jobs to as many as 5,000 technical professionals and domain experts, tapping talent in West Bengal, it said.

"This facility is a part of Rolta's expansion plans to grow manifold in the coming years, requiring additional infrastructure and talent pool of over 15,000 technical professionals," company chairman and managing director Kamal K Singh was quoted as saying.

"This new facility, being set-up for the first time outside of Mumbai, will help us in meeting the growing demand of our services for global markets," he added.

West Bengal's IT Minister Debesh Das said: "We are happy that Rolta is setting up a high-tech facility, which would provide employment opportunities to technical talents in the state. West Bengal government has already allotted the requisite land to Rolta."
