Raj Television Network [Get Quote] today announced the names of its two soon-to-be-launched new channels - Kalaignar TV and Raj News - for which it has received government approval.

Ministry of Broadcasting has given its nod for the launch of these two new channels, the company said on Thursday. While Kalaignar TV will show programmes on news, current affairs and entertainment, Raj News will be exclusively a news channel covering all domestic, international, business news and current affairs, Raj TV told the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The company is hopeful of starting these two channels in a very short period, it added. On May 4, M Rajendran-promoted Raj Television had first announced its intention to open 11 new channels, besides one aimed at the youth.

Raj TV Network telecasts two widely viewed channels - Raj TV and Raj Digital Plus.

"A group of experts are working on the modalities of the 11 channels. The youth channel is expected to start its telecast in September," chief operating officer and creative head of the network Raju Easwaran said.
