With considerable enhanced product line up and expansion of distribution tie-ups, Samsung India is eyeing a market share of 20 per cent in printer category this year, company deputy managing director Ravinder Zutshi said on Monday.

Inaugurating Samsung's first digital zone - an exclusive, interactive display of the company's leading technology range in LCD PC monitor, laser printer and laser multifunction printer category - in Chennai, he said the Southern region represented a key market in terms of printer sales.

The company was planning to set up six more digital zones in metro cities by the end of the year, he added. Stating that the annual sales of printer in the country were 7.5 lakh units, Zuthsi said Samsung had set a sales target of 1.5 lakh units this year.

The contribution of IT division, focusing primarily on printer and monitor category, to the company's net revenue was 27 per cent, he added. Nine new models of printers including the "world's smallest" colour laser MFP-CLX 2160 and mono laser printer ML-1630 were also launched on the occasion.

Priced at Rs 24,990, the CLX 2160 is the world's most compact and lightest colour laser all-in-one unit that was one half the size of conventional printers, thereby reinforcing Samsung's leadership in the mini colour laser all-in-one market, Zutshi said.

With the launch of new models, Samsung has a range of nine multi function printers, sever colour lasers and 10 mono laser printers, priced between Rs 4,990 and Rs 1,44,990.
