The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 41 points at 14,152. After extending gains in the opening trades the index slipped a bit to touch a intra-day low of 14,115. The index, thereafter, exhibited lacklustre movement for the major part of the trading day. However, end of the day saw the index rally to a high of 14,307.

In the process, the Sensex finally settled at an all-time high of 14,283, up 172 points, eclipsing its previous best close of 14,218, registered on January 18, when the index hit a intra-day life-time high of 14,326. The NSE Nifty ended at 4,148, up 58 points.
