Sensex, Nifty close at all-time high

The last trading day of this week turned out to be a dream day for the bourses wherein both the key indices Sensex and Nifty not only managed to conquer the psychological level of 14K and 4K respectively once again but also hit their all time high levels.

The Sensex closed up 425.82 points or 3.12% at 14056.53, and the Nifty ended up 110.20 points or 2.80% at 4052.45.

The markets were looking poised to defy gravity since morning and opened with bang in opening trade and continued its momentum through the day on the back of robust results coming from different sections of Indian Inc.

About 1591 shares have advanced, 1044 shares declined, and 41 shares are unchanged.

ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, SBI and BHEL were the top gainers on the Sensex.

ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Oriental Bank and SBI were the top gainers on the Nifty.

There were no losers on the Sensex and Nifty indices.

The BSE Auto index was up 1.48% or 82.34 points at 56.37.76. TVS Motor, Tata Motors, M&M, Bharat Forge, Cummins, Sundaram-Clayto gained.

The BSE Bankex gained 6.79% or 469.40 points at 7383.25. ICICI Bank, Bank of India, Federal Bank, HDFC Bank, Oriental Bank, PNB advanced.

The BSE Capital Good index closed up 2.24% or 200.14 points at 9128.19. Thermax, BHEL, Ingersoll Rand, Siemens, BEML, Bharat Elec, Alstom Projects ended up.

The BSE FMCG index was up 0.98% or 18.70 points at 1927.47.  ITC,  Nirma, Shaw Wallace, Dabur India closed in green.

The BSE Healthcare index gained 1.94% or 73.68 points at 3871.56. Sterling Bio, Cipla, Wockhardt, Nicholas Pirama, Matrix Lab, Lupin, Novartis India moved up.

The BSE IT index surged 2.24% or 117.21 points at 5348.10. HCL Tech, TCS, Patni Computer, Satyam, Infosys flared

The BSE Metal index ended up 2.09% or 184.93 points at 9029.89. Jindal Saw, SAIL, JindalStainless, Mah Seamless, Guj NRE Coke ended positive.

The BSE Oil & gas index was up 2.77% or 176.79 points at 6559.27. IOC, HPCL, Reliance, BPCL, MRPL gained.

The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 10000.82 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 37647.92 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 4587.86 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 52236.6 crore.
