Toyota to sell 4000 Innova units per month

Toyota Kirloskar Motors, makers of Innova, has targeted to sell 4000 units per month in 2007, a senior company official said on Monday.

The sales of Innova, launched two years ago in India, were 3100 units in 2005 and 3450 in 2006 and the company wanted to increase it to 4000 units per month this year, Sailesh Shetty, deputy general manager, Toyota Kirloskar Motors, said.

Shetty launched Innova's first limited edition cars with the luxury of a sedan and performance of a multi-purpose vehicle, in the market, said by increasing the sales to 4000 units, the company also wanted to increase its market share.

The current market share of the company is seven per cent. On the Innova limited edition, he said only 1000 units would be on sale over three months from January second week upto March 2007 and this was mainly to create an excitement among the customers about the product.

Asked about its plans to enter the small car market, Shetty said though it has definite plans to step into this segment, the company was carrying out a detailed study in this regard.
