Accenture, a global management consulting, technology and outsourcing company, plans to increase its headcount in India to 35,000 from 27,000 this year.

Addressing a press meet here, Steve Rohleder, chief operating officer, on Friday said the company would increase its head-count in India from the current 27,000 to 35,000 this year, adding that "India operations are the foundation of our offshore business."

Accenture's Chennai operations have been ramped up with the addition of 3,000 seats to its facility at Sholinganallur. Its global delivery network consists of more than 44 delivery centres across the world including 10 in India.

The company plans to hire over 54,000 persons this year, a top company official said.

Accenture has 18 per cent attrition rate, Rohleder said, adding that the company is putting in place systems to deal with it.

"We are assessing the pay scales across all the 48 geographies of our company and are putting in place pay adjustments," he said.
