The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) of Maharashtra has extended the last date for the submission of expressions of interest (EOI) forms for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project to August 16. The submission of EOI forms started on July 1 and was supposed to end on July 31.

"Since the Assembly was in session and the chief minister and others officials were busy, we could not give clarifications to the applicants. We got the responses from the government only on July 26. It was not fair on our part to ask them to submit the forms in four days. So we extended it by another 15 days," said a government official.

The SRA had sold 101 forms to the devlopers and corporates from across the country.

According to sources, all the major developers in the country including Reliance Industries [Get Quote], Larsen & Toubro, DLF, Hiranandani Constructions, Mahindra Gesco, K Raheja Universal, HDIL, Gammon [Get Quote] Infrastructure, Kalpataru, Peninsula Land [Get Quote] and a host of other developers have bought the forms.

The project has also drawn the interest of the global realtors like US-based Hynes, far east-based Capitaland, Ascendas, Ayala and Dubai-based developers Emaar Properties and Al Nakheel, sources said.

After the parties submit the EOI forms, evaluation of the same will take place for another 15 days and the SRA will give the bidding documents to the shortlisted candidates and the winners will be selected thereafter, the official said.
