Infosys Technologies would set up a software development centre in Mexico with an investment of $2 million to serve its US customers.

The Mexican subsidiary -- capable of supporting multiple languages -- would be operational in the July-September quarter, company's Head-Worldwide (customer sales and delivery) S D Shibulal said.

Initially, the unit will have a seating capacity of 300. "It will be in the same time zone (as that of the US)," he said adding the resource pool would serve the company's US clients.

"At this point in time, we are budgeting an investment of $2 million," added Shibulal, who is set to take over as chief operating officer of the NASDAQ-listed firm on June 22.

Currently, S Gopalakrishnan is the COO of the company.
