The first Chinese made motorcycles will hit the Indian roads in January next year. Branded Xoom, these bikes would be available in four variants - 100cc, 125cc, 150cc and 180cc and will initially come in semi-knocked down condition.

The launch will mark the foray of first Chinese auto maker into the Indian territory. While the company has not revealed the prices but is throwing hints that it will be attractive enough to grab a good share of the two-wheeler market.

The bikes will be brought by Xenitis Group of China, which has floated a separate company, Global Motors, along with its joint venture Chinese partner Guangzhou Motors Company.

Santanu Ghosh, chairman, Xenitis Group said: "With a firm commitment for Indian market we have invested Rs 280 crore (Rs 2.8 billion) initially.

"The Indian subsidiary, Global Motors, will also start off its manufacturing capacity of 20,000 units each month, which could be scaled up to 60,000 per month depending on the demand and market response.
