Major infrastructure firm, D S Constructions Limited has tied up with Munich Airport International to bid for the restructuring and modernisation of non-metro airports across the country.

Under the agreement, the consortium - Indian Gateway Airports - would jointly participate in the bidding for the airports that have been identified by the government, DSCL said in a statement.

The consortium would form a special purpose vehicle to undertake the work on the project.

If awarded the projects, DSCL would be the major partner in the consortium with 80 per cent stake while the remaining portion will be held by Flughafen Munchen GmbH of the Munich airport.

Both the companies had earlier participated in the bidding for the modernisation of Delhi and Mumbai airports.

"The DSCL-Munich consortium along with GMR-Fraport and Reliance-Mexico were the only three consortia, which had technically qualified for both the major metro airports," DSCL director N D Mehra said.

He said his company was keen to participate in the government plans to modernise and upgrade 35 non-metro airports in different parts of the country.

DSCL has been involved in several infrastructure projects, including those in the power sector, railways and expressways.
