The government has announced a bonus of Rs 100 per quintal for wheat.
Wheat growers will now get Rs 850 per quintal.
The State Trading Corporation of India has asked to do preparatory work for import of 3 million tonnes of wheat if required.
The government has also extended duty free import of wheat till December 31, 2007.
