Reflecting the continued interest in Indian equity markets, foreign institutional investments this year have crossed the four billion dollar mark.
In rupee terms, the FIIs have made net investments worth Rs 17,528 crore (Rs 175.28 billion) in the equities market this year so far, latest data available with SEBI shows.
As on June 13, the number of registered FIIs in the country stood at 1,042. In June so far, FIIs have picked up equities worth Rs 239.20 crore or about 57 milllion dollars, according to SEBI data.
The gross FII purchases in the month so far has been Rs 20,914.70 crore. Besides, the stock markets have been volatile this month with the Benchmark Index Sensex playing hide and seek with the 14,000 mark.
The gross FII investments in the country till now from the time they were allowed to invest in the India equity markets stand at 53.06 billion dollars.
