NIIT to train Malaysian IT workforce

Indian IT training company NIIT [Get Quote] plans to implement its 'inside model' in one of Malaysia's leading Industrial training institutes embedding its IT curriculum to foster IT skilled manpower.

A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed on Thursday in Penang between Romli Bin Hj Hassan, director general of Malaysia's human resources ministry and G Raghavan, president, NIIT Global Individual Learning Business.

"Under the NIIT 'Inside model', the training major will embed its IT training programmes in Malaysia's Arumugam Pillai Industrial Training Institutes," Raghavan told PTI.

Through this partnership, NIIT and ITIs will jointly work towards creating a complete academic framework for attracting and creating a large base of skilled manpower in Information Technology in Malaysia, he added.

Thomas George, Secretary General of Malaysia's Human Resources ministry Thomas George said having global partners like NIIT to train people "will help us create a new breed of professionals and contribute significantly towards the development of IT related industry."

Raghavan said the MoU recognised the relevance of NIIT's curriculum and opened the door for thousands of students in Malaysia's ITIs to get globally-relevant ICT skills. NIIT offers learning and knowledge solutions in 32 countries.
