Bill Gates' foundation keen to help Bihar farmers

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is eager to help farmers in Bihar by providing training to them in agriculture, horticulture and fishery.

A team from the foundation visited Bihar to explore the possibilities to help and assist the farmers.

"The foundation team during its three days visit have shown keenness in agriculture, horticulture, fishery and animal husbandry in the state," the director of the Indian Agriculture Research Institute, eastern region, Alok Kumar Sikka told rediff.com here on Wednesday.

Bill Gates foundation also wants to help the state to eradicate kala azar.

Thakur, a former Union minister, said that the foundation was in touch with the concerned government departments.
