Country's top software exporter Tata Consultancy Services on Thursday said it has set up a regional training centre in Latin America to meet the training needs of its employees in the region.
The training unit would have a capacity to train 3,000 local personnel in four years across the region including Argentina, Brazil, Chile among others, TCS said in a statement.
The centre has been established in the Knowledge Development Center of Montevideo (Uruguay) and is supported by the Uruguayan technology lab (LATU), it said.
The initiative marks the first such investment in the area of training and development by any Indian firm in Latin America, the statement said.
"Latin America today is becoming an increasingly important IT services marketplace, with some of the highest projected growth rates over the next five years. It is crucial that the proper investments are made in training in technology skills, global client orientation and English language skills," IDC's Global Services Research VP and GM Bob Welch said in the statement.
He said TCS' investment in collaboration with the Uruguayan government could serve as a valuable example of public-private co-operation to meet this growing need.
