Big cos eye small cities for talent

Big national and multinational companies are now eyeing smaller cities for finding suitable candidate for suitable jobs. Navjot Kaur and Harman Deep Singh are students of information technology and Shorya, a student of hotel management, hail from Jalandhar.

Their worries for suitable jobs after completion of education have ended as each was absorbed by companies like L&T, HCL [Get Quote] and Obroi Hotel respectively.

Last year, 50 leading companies of national and international origin awarded employment to 3,000 students and these figures are not static but on the way to rise.

Students are of view that now such companies are compelled to organise job fest in smaller towns for capturing talent.

And the past records tell that Jalandhar has become the most favorite destination for the leading companies. Renowned company Infosys [Get Quote] visited the city thrice within nine months and many popular IT companies like Wipro [Get Quote] and HCL and banking companies like CBOP, ICICI [Get Quote] and HDFC [Get Quote] are showing keen interest for the Jalandhar talents.

Pharma and Mechanical sector have also shown lots of confidence on the cities younger talent. Manhar Arora, head placements, C T Group of Institutes, said fifty companies within one year collectively had organised joint campus placement in the city and given employment to 3,000 students of the city.
