The cold wave continued to throw life out of gear in Delhi on Monday, with the minimum temperature dipping to 2.4 degrees Celsius in the national capital.

The metrological department has warned that the cold wave which has gripped Delhi and north India may continue for a few days.

Though the minimum temperature in Delhi improved partially from Sunday's 1.9 degrees Celsius, it still remains five degrees below normal.

"Television channels and newspapers offices have flooded us with questions about whether the weather will change. As of now, all we can say is that the cold wave will continue for the next three to four days," said an officer at the metrological department.

Over 150 people have lost their lives in the severe cold wave across Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar and Delhi.

In Rajasthan's Churu district, the temperature dropped to minus two degree Celsius, forcing people to stay at home.

The temperature in Delhi dropped from 1.9 degree Celsius to 1 degree Celsius on Sunday night. Several international and domestic flights were hit by the poor visibility at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

More then two dozen trains have either been cancelled or are running behind schedule by several hours.

Met department officials fear that the cold wave conditions will continue due to heavy snowfall in the upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir valley.
