Will anti-Modi cop Sanjeev Bhatt get bail today?
A court in Ahmedabad will decide on Indian Police Service officer Sanjeev Bhatt's bail plea on Friday.
The court had on Wednesday rejected the Gujarat government's application opposing bail to Bhatt and begun hearing his bail plea.
Sessions court Judge V K Vyas had adjourned the hearing on Bhatt's bail till October 7 after partly hearing arguments of Bhatt's lawyer I H Sayed.
The Gujarat government had on Tuesday moved an application opposing the hearing of Bhatt's bail plea on the grounds that his revision remand application was pending.

Sessions Judge V K Vyas said he was of the opinion that Bhatt's bail application should be heard, even if the remand application was pending in another court.
Opposing the government's argument, Bhatt's counsel I H Sayed had said that since the complainant K D Pant had changed his statements many times, he was unreliable.
Meanwhile, activists across Gujarat have threatened to hold protests on Friday against Bhatt's arrest.

The IPS officer had outrightly refused to compromise on a proposal from a sessions judge that if he went on remand for three hours, the court would hear his bail application later in the day.
"I cannot compromise with those goons. Whatever wrong the government wants to do I do not care. I will tolerate it," Bhatt had said in the open court.
Bhatt was arrested on September 30 in connection with a first information report filed against him by police constable K D Pant in June, for allegedly threatening him and making him sign false affidavits regarding a meeting called by Chief Minister Narendra Modi on February 27, 2002, hours after the Godhra train carnage.
Bhatt had accused Modi of complicity in the 2002 post-Godhra riots.
