Topless performance shocks Vatican

The weekly audience held at Paul VI Hall in Vatican City was in for a shock on Wednesday, when a group of toned dancers took off their shirts for an acrobatic performance in front of Pope Benedict XVI .

The group of acrobats, dressed modestly in white suits, walked to the papal throne and shocked the papal audience by tearing off their shirts before starting the performance.

While the Pope remained impassive and watched the performance, a group of nuns enthusiastically cheered on the dancers.

The men, part of the Fratelli Pellegrini group, are participants of a worldwide convention of pastoral care for circus and fair people, which is currently being held in Rome.
