India's wedding season peaks from late October to early December each year as couples choose to wed in these auspicious months. Many musicians are lured to Delhi from neighboring states to work for the popular traditional brass bands that play during weddings.

Musicians of the Rajan Band, totaling twenty, are paid the equivalent of $8 (Rs 416) a day whilst the band owner charges clients the equivalent of $520 (Rs 27,000) per wedding. The hours are long and accommodation is provided by the band owner. Brass bands are under great demand during this period often need to source musicians from other places in order to be able to fulfill the demand on more popular days.
