Training her guns at WikiLeaks for making an expose about her 'whims and fancies', Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Tuesday termed it a conspiracy by the Opposition.

"The owner of WikiLeaks should be sent to a mental asylum for what the kind of baseless allegations his organisation had been making against me", Mayawati told a press conference.

'BJP in cahoots with WikiLeaks'

Referring to the reaction of some opposition leaders including Bharatiya Janata Party spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who addressed a press conference in this connection on Monday, she remarked, "The visible smirk on the BJP leader's face, as also some other opposition leaders who were busy getting thrills out of the so-called leaked cables shows that the opposition parties were in cahoots with WikiLeaks, with the sole intent of tarnishing my image", she added.

With anger writ large on her face, the UP chief minister said, "Certain statements about me attributed by WikiLeaks to my two trusted men -- Satish Chandra Misra and Shashank Shekhar Singh -- were also evidently motivated with petty politics."

"As a befitting reply to all those who were behind this conspiracy, let me make it loud and clear that all this has only prompted me to give both of them greater significance in my scheme of things."

'Wikileaks, Opposition cooking up stories'

In a sarcastic retort to a WikiLeaks tape, claiming that the CM's personal jet was flown all the way to Mumbai to fetch a pair of her favourite sandals, Mayawati said, "As far as I am concerned, I do not know of any such thing. But if WikiLeaks and BJP leaders are making such a wild claim, then I would like to ask them if they also flew down in that plane to get me those special sandals?"

She further flayed both Wikileaks and the opposition leaders for propagating that she had hired a whole team of cooks and food-tasters.

"It appears that some of these people are cleaning utensils in my kitchen, otherwise how else could they be cooking up such stories," she chuckled.
