A policeman paints his face in preparation for a performance at a school near the police headquarters of the municipality of San Nicolas de los Garza, neighbouring Monterrey. Amid jokes and laughter, two Mexican police officers dressed as clowns hope to instil values into the children of the country's richest city at a time when drug cartels have forced escalated violence and recruit more and more young assassins every day.

Officers Tomas and Alexandro put on makeup for 40 minutes every day to portray Bombon Dulcito (Marshmallow) and Trompetillas (Little Trumpets) in a laudable and uncommon initiative in a country where police are constantly accused of corruption and of being infiltrated by drug traffickers.

A woman is reflected in a mirror inside a room of the Corona Save the Beach Hotel, an unusual hotel built with garbage, in central Madrid.

The hotel, designed by German eco-artist HA Schult, has no intentions of competing with The Ritz or any luxury hotel: it's built using 12 tonnes of garbage collected from the beaches of Spain, Italy, France and Belgium, rubbish dumps and flea markets. The goal of Schult's installation is to raise awareness of the damage consumerism has on the world beaches.
