We bring you a presentation of some of the best photos from around the world in the last week. Rescuers and relatives stop a woman from committing suicide by jumping off a building in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province.

The woman was rescued as she tried to commit suicide after killing her nephew following a family dispute, local media reported.

The ritual, called Ma'nene, involves changing the clothes of mummified ancestors every three years to honor love for the deceased.

Locals believe dead family members are still with them, even if they died hundreds of years ago, a family spokesman said.

A participant in the 'Concurso de Feos' (Ugly Competition), organised by the Txosna Moskotarrak, performs during the Aste Nagusia (Great Week) fiestas in Bilbao.

The fiesta is organised by both Txosnas, independent groups of friends responsible for bars and concerts, and Bilbao City Hall, and has run in its present form since 1978.

The nine-day festivities feature live music, sports, circuses, bullfights, fireworks, large doses of drinking and late nights.

A United States Forest Service firefighter fights the blaze at the Springs Fire in Boise National Forest near Banks-Garden Valley.

The Idaho blaze, sparked by a utility vehicle that caught fire, has charred nearly 70,000 acres of sagebrush and woodlands east of Boise over the past six days, burning a rental cabin and six non-residential structures, authorities said.

South Africans held a memorial service on Thursday at a platinum mine where police shot dead 34 strikers, bloodshed that revived memories of apartheid-era violence and laid bare workers' anger over enduring inequalities since the end of white rule.

Some 500 people crammed into a marquee pitched at the platinum mine, near what has been dubbed the 'Hill of Horror' where police shot dead 34 striking miners in the deadliest security incident since apartheid ended in 1994.
