No Telangana, but Cong may soon replace Andhra CM

Andhra Pradesh is in for a major political change likely by mid-September.

A strong view is now emerging -- at the top levels of the All India Congress Committee and the United Progressive Alliance government -- over the recent spat between state Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and Union Petroleum Minister S Jaipal Reddy on the Gas pricing issue.

The two Reddys have declared an open fight, which may result in a war between state and central governments. 

Highly placed sources told rediff.com that with the Congress top brass free from the presidential and vice presidential polls it may now turn its attention to the burning problems in Andhra Pradesh. It may even suggest a change in leadership in the state.

The AICC is likely to depute in early September a senior leader to Hyderabad to assess the political situation.

Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, who was once the governor of Andhra Pradesh, is planning to call for an all party meet on Telangana, where his predecessor P Chidambaram left the issue.

That meeting might call up the central government to come out with a package, indirectly meaning 'no Telangana separate state.

According to sources, AICC might go in for a political package and announce it around mid-September.
