People look on from a boat as a Soviet-made Tupolev-154 plane of former Bulgarian communist ruler Todor Zhivkov is prepared to be submerged in the Black Sea near the city of Varna, around 450 km northeast of Sofia.

The airplane was submerged in the Black Sea to attract scuba divers and tourists to the sunny coasts of northeastern Bulgaria.

The Soviet-made Tupolev-154, ordered specially for the needs of Zhivkov, eastern Europe's longest-serving communist leader, was grounded in 1999 but once flew with famous passengers such as former Cuban leader Fidel Castro.

The 'Plastic Bag Monster', a creation by Slovenian artist Miha Artnak, is displayed outside the European Commission headquarters in Brussels.

Artnak collected 40,000 used plastic bags and 7,500 used plastic cups to create the artwork, which symbolizes the spread of consumerism and waste segregation, according the artist's website.
