Thousands of Muslims pray at the Grand Mosque in Mecca during the holy month of Ramzan. Mecca, located in Saudi Arabia, is considered the holiest site in Islam.

Muslims circle the Kaaba inside the Grand Mosque. During Ramzan, devout Muslims abstain from eating, drinking and conducting sexual relations from sunrise to sunset.

Muslims across the world will celebrate Eid al-Fitr to mark the end of the holy month of Ramzan. Eid, which is determined by the sighting of the new moon, will fall around September 10.

The Mecca Clock, which Riyadh says is the world's largest, has four faces measuring 43 metres in diameter. It sits 400 metres up what will be the world's second-tallest skyscraper and largest hotel, overlooking the Grand Mosque.

It is considered the duty of the faithful to undertake the Haj pilgrimage and visit the holy site of Mecca at least once in their lifetime.
