These are people we have read about in newspapers and seen on television; people who have made a difference. But very few may have seen them when they were young, long before they stepped into the limelight.

Here are a few images of some renowned personalities who were photographed much before they became world-famous.

American businessman and politician Mitt Romney is a candidate for the 2012 Republican Party presidential nomination. He was the 70th Governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007. Romney was elected governor of Massachusetts in 2002 but did not seek re-election in 2006.

Romney ran for the Republican nomination in the 2008 US presidential election and won several primaries and caucuses. However, he lost the nomination to John McCain.

He married Ann Davies in 1969 and they have five children.
