Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday embarked on INS Vikramaditya, India’s largest warship aircraft carrier. This is his first outing on a military asset.

After arriving in Goa around 10 am, the PM was received at the INS Hansa naval base by Navy Chief Admiral R K Dhowan and given a ceremonial guard of honour. He then flew out to the warship sailing off the Goa coast.

Modi enthusiastically boarded the MiG 29K as a naval officer briefed him about the fighter jet.

He watched high-speed manoeuvres by the western fleet ships. However, because of heavy rainfall the demonstrations were halted and Modi was ushered inside INS Vikramaditya.

It was commissioned last November by then defence minister A K Antony at Russia's Sevmash shipyard.
