Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's music sense...

Starlet Nupur Mehta's proud parents...

Ghulam Nabi Azad's disillusioned...

Congress's coup attempt...

Anand Sharma, the already chief minister...

All this and more in this week's Dilli Gupshup.

When it comes to appreciation of bands singing popular numbers, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh does not appear to be a great music enthusiast.

This was evident when Dr Singh was seen clapping at the end of the first stanza at a cultural evening that was organised to bid farewell to the retiring Rajya Sabha MPs.

A little known band from Mumbai was invited to perform before the prime minister, Vice President M Hamid Ansari, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and other dignitaries.

But the quality of music and selection of numbers was not of a high quality.

Bollywood actor and model Nupur Mehta's parents are proud of their daughter's "proximity" to international cricketers and television commentators, claiming that visiting cricketers gave them expensive gifts too.

Nupur's name has figured in allegations of fixing matches for bookies. She has also admitted her friendship with Sri Lankan cricketer Dilshan Tilakratne.

Indore-based Col (retd) J K Mehta and Dr Chitra Mehta say each time the city played host to ODIs, some players (known to Nupur) would visit them, bringing gifts and souvenirs.

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is a disillusioned man.

Prior to the presentation of the Union Budget, Azad had called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia.

The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister had argued for a hefty increase in budgetary allocation, pointing that 2.5 per cent of GDP for health sector would enhance the UPA's credentials. According to Azad, the prime minister and the Planning Commission were in agreement. But in Pranab Mukherjee's budget, there was status quo.

Azad is now planning to take up the matter with 10, Janpath.

A coup is being planned in Jharkhand.

The Congress is reportedly trying to lure Hemant Soren, currently deputy chief minister in the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government.

All India Congress Committee general secretary Shakeel Ahmad, currently camping in Ranchi, is said to have offered the chief minister's post to Hemant, who is Jharkhand Mukti Morcha supremo Shibhu Soren's son.

The Congress is asking Hemant to head a coalition government with the help of the Congress, independents and some other smaller parties.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma has a long-standing desire to be the chief minister of his home-state Himachal Pradesh.

The assembly polls are due in the year-end but the Sharma camp has already declared him as chief minister!

In close circles, Sharma is addressed as 'CM' though his Congress party sits in opposition in Shimla. Any call to his office gets a response with a 'CM's Office' greeting.

Udyog Bhawan babus say 'CM' stands for commerce minister.

But whatever happens to his other portfolio, that of industry?
