RIMPAC 2014: World's largest naval exercise

San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Anchorage (LPD 23), Avenger-class mine countermeasures ships USS Scout (MCM 8) and USS Champion (MCM 4), and Canadian Forces Kingston-Class coastal defense vessel HMCS Nanaimo (MM 702) transit in formation off the coast of Southern California as part of Rim of the Pacific Exercise 2014.

Twenty-three nations, 47 ships, six submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in the biennial Rim of the Pacific exercise scheduled June 26 to August 1, in and around the Hawaiian Islands.

India is among the countries participating in the world's largest international maritime exercise, which provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster and sustain the cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans.

Hosted by United States Pacific Fleet, RIMPAC 2014 is the 24th exercise in the series that began in 1971.

The Legged Squad Support System (LS3) walks around the Kahuku Training Area during the Rim of the Pacific 2014 exercise.

The LS3 is experimental technology being tested by the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab during Rim of the Pacific 2014. It is programmed to follow an operator through terrain, carrying heavy loads of gear or supplies such as water and food to Marines training.

There are multiple technologies being tested during RIMPAC, the largest maritime exercise in the Pacific region.

A simulated casualty is placed onto the back of the Ground Unmanned Support Surrogate, experimental technology being tested by Marine Corps Warfighting Lab during Rim of the Pacific 2014 at Kahuku Training Area.

The GUSS is a multi-purpose support vehicle equipped with sensors to allow operation with or without a driver. GUSS is one of many technologies being experimented in a field environment during the Advanced Warfighting Experiment.
