A worker straps 21-foot crocodile robot Longlong on top of a van, before transporting it through the main road to CrocodilePark in Pasay city, metro Manila. The robot, inspired by Lolong, the largest saltwater crocodile to have been in captivity, contains thousands of mechanisms costing around 80,000 pesos (Rs3.7 lakh) and took three months to build by robot experts.

Hugo, a 63-year-old Galapagos Tortoise, is enticed out of his enclosure with a carrot fed to him by a keeper before his annual weighing at the AustralianReptilePark in Somersby near Sydney. Once a year Hugo’s massive body is carried by four men and a forklift to an industrial scale to assess his health and at 166 kilograms, he weighs one kilogram more than last year. The life expectancy of a Galapagos Tortoise is up to 180 years.

Dancers dressed as futuristic characters perform during a show at The Robot Restaurant in Tokyo, Japan. The now famous Robot Restaurant opened two years ago in Kabukicho area of Shinjuku at an estimated cost of $10 million. Performances are held three times a day and cater mostly to foreign tourists. The cabaret style shows include bikini clad futuristic dancers, performers dressed as robots and a host of large scale robots and vehicles controlled with remotes by stage hands dressed as Ninjas.

As growing numbers of young people in China immerse themselves in the cyber world, spending hours playing games online, worried parents are increasingly turning to boot camps to crush addiction. Military-style boot camps, designed to wean young people off their addiction to the internet, number as many as 250 in China alone.
